Waitresses work in restaurants and bars of all types and price points. Duties of the waitress may vary somewhat from establishment to establishment but they are predominantly responsible for serving food and drinks to customers. In family restaurants or diners, waitresses are often casual and friendly with their customers. In formal restaurants, they may be required to observe strict rules of service and etiquette. Required Qualifications

  • Most waitresses receive on the job training. There are no special certifications or courses required. Most establishment require at minimum that waitresses are
  • of legal working age;
  • of legal drinking age if the establishment serves liquor;
  • available to work shifts during the day, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
