Kanata is a suburb of Ottawa that has a population of roughly 100,000 people. It is a very fast-growing suburb that has become more and more appealing to Ottawa residents over the past decade. It has a thriving high-tech industry and First Air, a Canadian airline that primarily services northern Canada, has its head office here. Kanata is also actually where the Ottawa Senators, a NHL hockey team, play at the Scotiabank Place. Scotiabank Place is a hockey arena and it is also where a lot of large rock concerts are held. Sports, especially hockey, are a big part of living in Kanata. The women's hockey team plays at the Bell Sensplex arena that is also where the annual minor league youth tournament called the Bell Capital Cup is held.
Two other beloved landmarks in Kanata are the Ron Maslin Playhouse (a 350-seat theatre) and the Empire Theatre Kanata 24 (the largest movie theatre in the entire Ottawa area).
