Prince George is the biggest city in northern British Columbia with a population of about 83,000 people. It is a city whose economy centers much on its forestry industry as well as its other outdoor industries such as mining and prospecting. There are also two large universities in Prince George (the University of Northern British Columbia and the College of New Caledonia), which provide jobs for many of the city's local residents.
Although Prince George is probably most famous for the winter and summer outdoor activities that you can do here, there are also several key landmarks in Prince George. The Fraser Fort George Regional Museum and its Exploration Place is a great museum that is also where one can find the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame. The Two Rivers Gallery in Prince George is also one of the city's key art spaces while the Theatre Northwest is one of the city's most prominent theatre companies.
