Waterloo is a fairly large city in southern Ontario and it is neighboured by its sister city of Kitchener. Sometimes in local conversation, these two cities are lumped together and referred to as Kitchener-Waterloo. Waterloo is a city with a fairly strong economy and there is much work here for its 100,000 residents. There are a wide variety of companies that operate out of Waterloo including many in the service industry, the insurance sector and the high-tech industry. Two large Canadian universities that are situated here (the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University) also employ many of Waterloo's citizens.
There are many well-known tourist attractions in Waterloo including the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Elliott Avedon Museum and Archive of Games. There are also many winter and summertime festivals held in Waterloo every year. The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest festival is probably one of the most well known festivals in Waterloo. The Ice Dogs Festival, the Waterloo Busker Carnival, and the Waterloo County & Area Quilt Festival are some of Waterloo's more unique and interesting festivals.
