Dillon’s Communities & Environment technical group is looking for a Water Wastewater Project Manager to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

This position is available at our office in Calgary.

What your day will look like

Project Management

  • Project manage technical projects related to the design and construction of rural northern lagoon facilities, water / wastewater treatment design and infrastructure condition assessments
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineering technologist, and environmental staff through project deliverables
  • Contribute technical expertise to functional design, detailed design and construction administration activities of multidisciplinary project teams
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, and technical and administrative support staff
  • Regular interaction with clients, agencies, utilities and other project stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of municipal servicing standards and provincial / federal regulatory requirements

Business Development

  • Contribute to business development activities including client needs research, preparation of project proposals and presentations
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request

Learning & Development

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in environmental, civil, mechanical or chemical engineering
  • Registration as an Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists or the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, or be eligible within six months
  • Minimum five years’ work experience in engineering

The candidate ideally possesses broad and strategic thinking skills, including experience in managing northern infrastructure projects, relationship building, stakeholder management, and government relations. The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Experienced in the assessment and design, construction, operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities and wastewater lagoons, rural community water and wastewater infrastructure/facilities and condition assessments
  • Demonstrated success in project management and leading multidisciplinary project teams
  • Experience in project development: conceptual, preliminary, detailed design, construction assistance, commissioning, and operational support
  • Working knowledge of relevant Canadian federal and provincial regulations
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to network in professional settings
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high regard for accuracy and quality
  • Strong problem solving skills and a deep desire to help and guide our clients on their path to success
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement would be an asset
