We’re seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our design thinking-based product team. Within a cross-functional team, you’ll develop a deep understanding of customers through research, define effective solutions that address their needs, and design compelling experiences that drive engagement. Ultimately, you’ll be focused on designing products that are highly valuable to customers and delight end users, while working with your team to ensure they are also viable for the business and feasible to implement.

In joining our team, you’ll be empowered to own projects from start to finish, and experience a significant amount of autonomy in implementing systems and processes to ensure the success of your products. Furthermore, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute your expertise to maturing the design discipline at RTI while mentoring junior team members to support their growth.


What You'll Do:

  • Lead and oversee user research strategies across the product lifecycle to identify key customer needs and challenges.

  • Consult with senior business leaders to champion the user research discipline and advocate for a customer-centric approach to product development.

  • Shape and present research recommendations for both internal and external stakeholders, leveraging the most appropriate formats to drive buy-in.

  • Own the end-to-end design process, translating research insights into meaningful products, features, and experiences that are actionable by delivery teams.

  • Lead and oversee the creation of various research and design outputs, from personas and journey maps through to wireframes, prototypes, and engineering-ready designs.

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to optimize the user experience of products from conception, to launch, to ongoing iterations.

  • Oversee UI/UX design practices to ensure the creation of best-in-class user experiences, providing feedback and design critique to junior team members.


About You:

  • You have a 5+ year track record of success in similar roles, with at least 3 years' experience performing user research activities.

  • You are passionate about solving real problems for customers and businesses, and have a strong sense of empathy for their needs.

  • You have expertise in identifying the best research methods to use based on project objectives and constraints, with practical experience across a range of methods (e.g. ethnographic research, in-depth interviews, usability testing, diary studies, workshops).

  • You have a deep understanding of the end-to-end design process with proven experience turning research insights into valuable and actionable design solutions.

  • You have a strong background in visual/UI design and are confident providing feedback to and mentoring junior designers.

  • You are proficient with industry-standard research and design tools such as Dovetail, Figma, Sketch, Framer, and the Adobe Suite.

  • You thrive within agile environments where iteration and continuous improvement are essential to the culture.

  • You are a skilled communicator and collaborator with experience working within cross-disciplinary teams to get things done.

  • You are detail-oriented and committed to excellence in all facets of your work, from crafting designs to crafting emails.

  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are excited about overcoming challenges, navigating ambiguity, and learning from setbacks in a fast-paced environment.
