Adastra Corporation is hiring! As Canada’s leading Data and AI company, and we are currently looking for an Azure Lead Consultant/Cloud Architect to join our Microsoft Practice. As part of the Microsoft Practice, a successful candidate will lead the team in establishing unique approaches to ensure solutions are developed, implemented, and maintained, and the appropriate tools and technologies are utilized.
Location: Within the GTA but currently remote/Markham/Toronto
Status: Contract/Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Analyze current state and identify/document gaps between current state and requirements
- Understand business process and refine business requirements with stakeholders
- Define future state solution architecture
- Meet solution security and availability requirements with architectural designs
- Define future state data architecture/models
- Define high level steps/plan/resources to achieve future state
- Complete customer required specs for requirements, architecture, and design, to garner solution approval across all stakeholders
- Define governance processes to facilitate effective adoption and maintenance of solutions
- Establish best practices to ensure solutions are developed, implemented, and maintained with the best, consistent approach
- Manage team through solution development and delivery
- Communicate with stakeholders around progress and challenges
- Manage issues effectively as they occur during the solution life cycle
- Investigate/resolve complex challenges blocking developer progression
- Stay abreast of latest technology developments and maintain a "trusted advisor" role with stakeholders
- Estimate software/service pricing related to solution design
- Capable of explaining technical projects and the business impact to management and non-technical stakeholders
- Conduct assessment, discovery, identification of bottlenecks andfind gaps in infrastructure - recommend areas of improvements, implement changes
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Formal Education in IT/Computer Science/Computer Engineering related fields
- 5to 8 years’ experience in a Data Engineering/Architect type role
- 5to 8 years’ SQL practical experience; familiarity with SQL statements, stored procedures, indexing, partitioning, distribution, and basic security
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in modeling data
- Hands-on technical expertise required related to Big Data or Data Warehouse technologies
- Ability to optimize data access for speed/reliability/velocity as needed by the business
- Solid experienceimplementing and leading multiple cloud migration engagements
- Experience with cloud deployment models - IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Hybrid
- Intermediate to Expert level experience with Azure Data Factory/Synapse Pipelines, Azure Databricks/Synapse Spark Engine, Azure Analysis service/SSAS, Azure Synapse Analytics Engine/Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Microsoft Power BI
- Energetic and results-oriented with a proven track record to leverage technology to deliver business objectives that yield efficiencies in improved business processes
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and have the initiative to drive constant optimization and improvements in the business
- Exceptional client-facing communication abilities (written and verbal), including ability to work with both onshore and offshore teams
Nice to Have:
- One of AZ-300/303/304 or DP-200/201/203 or AZ-103/104
- Agileexperience or Certification
- Proficient in Python/R/Scala/Spark or some form of scripting
- Azure Networking or Security Experience
