Constantly growing in the renewable market across Canada, WSP is currently seeking Electrical Engineers - Auxiliary Services for Hydro and Dams division. Positions are available at our offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal or elsewhere in Canada. Reporting to the National Electrical Manager, successful candidates will be responsible for performing technical studies, electrical design as well as project management of renewable energy projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES Design electrical works and studies related to the balance of plant (BOP) in the hydro and dams market. Write technical specifications (performance and detailed) for the electrical scope of work such as MV and LV switchgear, MCC, E-house and related equipment, step-up transformer, etc. for power plants, sluiceways, etc. Assist project managers in the planning, control, and technical coordination of projects. Perform network studies with ETAP, EasyPower. Liaise closely with established technical teams to coordinate engineering work. Contribute to business development (including proposals). Participate in the development and support of junior team members to develop the capacity of WSP’s electrical team. Supervise engineering resources, including technicians and drafters. Perform quality assurance on technical packages. Coordinate with relevant regulatory authorities and utilities. Some travel to and from client sites and/or temporary secondment to client sites may be required. QUALIFICATIONS Electrical engineering degree with experience in the hydropower environment and associated equipment (BOP etc.) P.Eng. designation in a Canadian province Eight (8) years of relevant experience Leadership qualities, strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrable experience working cooperatively and effectively with a variety of stakeholders Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to problem solving Multi-disciplinary versatility and knowledge Offers of employment for safety-sensitive positions involving fieldwork are contingent upon candidates being able to perform key physical tasks of the job as described in the job posting and interview.
