Specialized Instructor II

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Reporting to the Programmer/Coordinator, Instructors are responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a high quality program that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants. Responsible for the safety and well-being of participants at all times.

Position Duties:

  • Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating lessons for all levels of participants
  • Keep current with industry trends and class formats
  • Assist and mentoring volunteers and assistants
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. attendance, incident/accident reports)
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor and take appropriate action
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Attend meetings/training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Proven background experience in discipline
  • Certification, or member, of a professional association considered an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

Job status: Part-time

Hourly rate: $24.25

Successful candidates will be required to be fully vaccinated with a Health Canada or the World Health Organization approved COVID-19 vaccine series with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date. To maintain ongoing fully vaccinated status, the successful candidate must also receive each dose/booster that may be required or recommended by Public Health. The City of Brampton will consider cases requiring accommodation as stipulated by relevant employment standards legislation or regulation and/or the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Fully vaccinated means the two-week anniversary after receiving a vaccination series approved by Health Canada or the World Health Organization. Acceptable proof includes an Ontario Ministry of Health COVID-19 vaccine receipt which you can obtain through the Provincial portal https://covid19.ontariohealth.ca/ , or other government-issued vaccine passport or certification.
