Scope of the Position

This job is diverse in the mechanical ability to perform general plant operator duties. The Chemical Operator is an integral part of our production team and will be responsible for the overall chemical production process. This will include weighing, mixing chemical ingredients, monitoring equipment and the manufacturing process and loading chemicals for transport into vessels including tanker trailers, rail cars, and totes. The ideal candidate will be attentive, knowledgeable, and have a desire to work with other production team members to develop the best processes and products.

Position: Chemical Operator

Shift: Rotating 12 Hour Shift Schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Control and monitor plant and equipment within the scope of authority
  • Measuring, mixing and adding chemicals to the reaction tanks
  • Monitoring meter and instrument readings and making necessary adjustments
  • Testing samples for quality purposes
  • Prepare the work area for maintenance and reinstate after maintenance is complete
  • Cleaning and preparing equipment, and minor maintenance work
  • Perform all required pre-fill and post-fill inspections and tests before containers are released.
  • Ensures records are accurately maintained and that all required procedures are followed in accordance with local, provincial and federal regulations.
  • Safely operates a forklift and wheel loader
  • Maintains a neat, clean and orderly work area
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Working Environment

  • This job requires climbing stairs and ladders and also lifting (within OSHA guidelines).
  • This job consists of outside elements where radiant heat or cold is normal work environment with full PPE use.
  • Following all plant safety guidelines
  • Must be able to work scheduled rotating 12-hour shifts.

What You Need To Be Successful

  • High School Diploma or GED, consideration given to those with further education and or skills
  • 1-3 years of experience working in chemical manufacturing or manufacturing/production.
  • Must place safety first at all times.
  • Forklift Training/Experience preferred
  • Able to wear self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Ability to demonstrate experience using Microsoft programs, maintenance management systems and email.
  • Aptitude for mechanics.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, and computer knowledge
  • Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision, is highly motivated, energetic, and enjoys working as part of a team
