Irving, Limited, NS Woodlands Division is currently seeking candidates for Lead Hand Forest Products Truck Driver (Class 1) . The position is centralized in Truro, Nova Scotia, with work locations varying across the province. In this role, you will report to the Nova Scotia Woodlands Operations Manager and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of (up to six) Company owned Highway Self Loading (HSL) trucks. This position will be directly responsible for ensuring that all trucks are operated according to J.D. Irving, Limited's Best Management Practices and meet legal requirements to operate on Public Roads. The Lead Hand will be required to maintain safety, quality, and productivity on the job site and work independently in remote environments and perform general daily maintenance and repairs as required. Majority of deliveries will occur within Nova Scotia, however, there could be travel into New Brunswick. Qualifications: Education Required: High School diploma at a minimum Years of Experience Required: 5 years minimum of truck driving experience, preferably operating a logging truck in off road conditions. Valid Class 1 Drivers License or equivalent General truck mechanical skills will be considered and asset. Key Responsibilities: Ensure HSL's trucks are operated and driven in a safe, efficient, and productive manner according to J.D. Irving, Limited's Best Management Practices, and legal compliance. Manage logistics daily of the trucks to ensure they are fully utilized with load miles. Organizing loads for the week Checking to ensure roads are ready for trucks Managing shift change locations Schedule and coordinate truck driver shifts, vacations, and shop services. Proven ability to coach and inspire others, and act as a liaison on behalf of JDI. Ability to step in drive truck if required to maintain utilization of HSL Conditions of Employment: Competitive Pay Rate: up to $25.00 - $30.00 Hourly (depending on skill level and experience) hourly bonus pay based on KPI's. Health & Dental Benefits Retirement Savings Plan Hours: 45 - 52 per week Company vehicle provided.
