DESCRIPTION

Michels Canada is looking for a Civil Engineer, EIT Infrastructure to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be performing a wide range of tasks and support business priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position will be based in Vancouver, BC

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
• Assist with contract management: initial conversations through final project close-out, ensuring timely review and reconciliation/approval of variations within established guidelines and in accordance with division and company policies and procedures. Verify final product meets contract requirements
• Coordinate with project leadership the activities of the project to ensure progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• Ensure compliance with company quality requirements and standards
• Create and update short term schedules
• Identify purchasing needs and initiate the purchase requisition process
• Generate relevant Request for Information (RFI) and submittals
• Select equipment to meet operational needs
• Participate in the development of Hazard Analysis’, subsequent toolbox meetings, and work plans and packages
• Provide planning, reporting, and forecasting support to project leadership
• Track permanent materials and bulk commodities per established procedure
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent coursework in Civil or Mining Engineering
• 0-2 years of related experience
• Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by the DOT Operations Director and Michels Legal Department

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with: Primavera, Microsoft Project, Blue Beam

LANGUAGES

• Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
