Profile

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is currently searching for a Hydromechanical Specialist to join the Dash 8 In Service Engineering Systems & Technical Support team. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and solutions for in-service issues related to overall product safety, reliability, and maintainability of the aircraft.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage technical requests to meet committed turnaround times/customer requirements. This will include supporting AOG requests, troubleshooting assistance, action plans and technical solutions that have short turnaround times.
  • Monitor fleet data and report on findings and provide recommendations to manage diverting trends.
  • Conduct and coordinate redesign investigations, root cause analyses and corrective actions of fleet issues, which may lead to procedural and/or product changes.
  • Work with Suppliers and internal groups to develop and manage project schedules to achieve customer commitments.
  • Create deliverables such as In-Service Modsums, All Operator Messages, Service Letters, Concession Support Letters, Reference Instruction Letters, In Service Activity Reports and other fleet communications.
  • Prepare reports and communication packages to support customer meetings, regional reviews, conferences, working groups and other initiatives.
  • Provide on-site assistance at operators’ facilities as required.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Aerospace Engineering degree or AME license

Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Aircraft Systems, with a particular interest and understanding of aircraft powerplant, APU, propeller and bleed air systems is an asset
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in aviation manufacturing, vendor or airline maintenance and airline environment
  • Customer Service, strong written and oral communications skills are essential
  • Customer support experience is a definite asset
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision and with cross functional terms
  • Familiarity with the De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft family
  • Proficient in PC use, MS Office applications and data base tools
  • Short notice travel assignments and flexible working hours to support a 24/7/365 operation

Skills

  • Advances MS Office skills, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Advanced user knowledge of Lotus Notes & IFS
  • You have a strong working knowledge of Aircraft systems, Avionics’ and Structures and you can “think on your feet” in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • You can travel internationally on short notice, and you are very flexible in terms of working hours to support a 24/7/365 days operation
  • You demonstrate exceptional ability to deal effectively with Customers, in somewhat stressful circumstances
  • You have exceptional organizational and presentation abilities
  • You are a dynamic oral and written communication, with strong people skills
  • You can work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential
